Conserve Water, Save Money

Using pure water to drink, wash your food, clean your home and wash yourself or your clothes with is the best step you can take towards a better quality of living.  What if you could also save money every time you use your pure water?

Of course, you naturally save money on bottled waters that don’t get the job done or having the grime of contaminated water saturate your clothes and reduce colors or going through countless cleaners trying to eradicate the buildup in showers and sinks.  Your Pel75 Water System already helps with that, yet there is a way to save even more money by keeping your water bills lower.

Here are a few tips on how to stop your precious water from being wasted…

  • Turn Off Faucets!  This may seem obvious but sometimes we leave the water running while doing dishes or brushing our teeth.  By simply shutting the faucet off while we soap up dishes or scrub in between molars, you can save hundreds of gallons of water a month.
  • Check Plumbing!  First off, check for leaks.  Slow drips or leaky toilets can waste 20 to 200 gallons EACH DAY.  Make sure your hot water pipes are insulated so you reduce the water waste while you wait for hot water.  Also, check your water heater thermostat and make sure it isn’t set too high.  This can waste a ton of water and energy because the water often has to be cooled with cold water before it can ever be used.
  • Upgrade Your Washing Machine!  Older washers use up so much water to try and get the job done.  Investing in a newer model, like an energy star rated machine, can save you nearly 40% percent of water used.  Get in the habit of only doing laundry when you have a full load.  By waiting until they are full, you can save nearly 1,000 gallons a month.
  • Shorten Your Shower!  Even reducing how long you spend in the shower by a single minute or two can save up to 150 gallons a month.  You may want to limit how many baths you take and use the shower instead.  Baths can use up to 70 gallons of water compared to 20 in the shower.
  • No Rinse!  For newer models of dishwashers, there’s no need to do a pre-rinse of dishes.  Simply scrape and load!  When it comes time for thawing food, don’t run it under hot water in the sink.  Let it defrost in the fridge – a little pre-planning can save cash!

There are so many other ways to conserve water in the home but these simple tricks can have you using less and keeping your water bills low.  Besides, with your reverse osmosis water purification system installed, wouldn’t you rather enjoy the fresh, clean water than watch it go right down the drain?
